Squids:
-
No longer are squids just rectangles with tentacles, now they're three rectangles with tentacles!
-
Their texture has been fully redone to add more detail and smooth out some small oddities.
-
Additionally, their eyes have been moved down much lower to reflect the anatomy of real-life squids.
Glow Squids:
Unlike with the regular, non-glowing squids, I've made some much more significant changes to glow squids, such as...
-
A complete re-design of their face, giving them way more.. eyes? Or are they just markings?
-
Although some spots seem more like eyes and some seem more like markings, I wanted it to be somewhat questionable which ones are which.
-
Their spot pattern has been tweaked and more spots were added.
-
They've also been given an emissive texture layer! This isn't visible 99% time since the emissive sections blend into the body whenever the glow squid is glowing, but as soon as they stop glowing, the emission becomes obvious.
Emissive Texture Layer:
During normal gameplay, glow squids will temporarily stop glowing after being damaged. When this happens, the emissive texture added by this resource pack will continue to glow!
This effect is demonstrated below:
(captured in a fully enclosed room with no lighting)
(captured outdoors during the nighttime)
If you want to see these emissive effects more commonly, you also might want to try out my datapack: Configurable Squid Glow.
Using it, you're able to choose whether or not glow squids "glow", and if so, how much. In the image below, it was used to stop all of the glow squids from glowing. When combined with this resource pack, their appearance will change drastically depending on the light level!
